Our high school has a Bocce Ball tournament every year on a Saturday.
This is Trent helping one of the men play Bocce Ball. Each year Westwood has a Bocce Ball tournament in September on a Saturday. The people with special needs come to play Bocce Ball make arts and crafts and to eat lunch. It a fun experience for everyone and it means a lot to the people. I think Bocce Ball is one of the best things that my school does for the community.(9th grade)
The ninth grade helped the K-4 students plant flowers.
This is me helping one of the kids dig a hole for the flowers.
This year was our school's 40th year anniversary. Each class was supposed to come up with something to do towards the end of the school year that had to do with the number 40. The K-4 decided to plant 40 flowers in their garden and then dedicate it to Mrs. Rhonda who has been teaching K-4 at Westwood for many years. Our ninth grade class went over to the K-4 building during our computer class and helped them plant the flowers. It was very fun and I felt like the kids really enjoyed having some older kids come over and help them.
Our youth group at church helped with a Soup Kitchen that we have one Sunday out of each month.
We had adults prepare the food Saturday morning before the event took place. Then we all met at 5:00 and served food and then at 6:00 we had our normal Sunday night worship service and some of the people came to listen. I think this was a good thing because not only did they get a good meal but they also got to listen to the word of God and maybe it will help them to want to become Christians and come to church regularly.
